  I left my dog there for a few weeks while my home was getting work done. They gave him fleas and heartworm. To top it all off they were going to kill him without informing me. Luckily I called to check in before it happened and was able to save my dog. Poor place, poor ethics, and a poor facility

  Sorry for the people who wrote the one/twostar reviews. We had nothing but a positive experience. My favortie breed is a rescue, and I can see the staff doing the third degree on someone getting a pit. I wasn't there, so I don't know the whole story, but I can't imagine anyone working at an animal shelter that doesn't have the animals' happiness and security in mind, JMHO. We saw our pet online, went to see her with our grandson, and decided to adopt her. Did they call my vet? Sure. I don't mind, I have a good relationship with my vet and my previous pets. I don't know how to address vetting with a first time pet owner. There's got to be some way. So, I mostly wrote this to tell people that I think this shelter appears to be well run, and my pet adoption experience was great. We're thinking of going back and getting a sibling for our pet.

  One star because they do not post available animals on their web site. St Landry and St Martin post constantly and draw me in all the time. The last animal I adopted was from Baton Rouge because I saw her on line. YOU ARE LOOSING ADOPTERS BECAUSE YOU DONT PIST.
